Trash Removal – 3 Months

For nearly 30 years HGS has provided trash removal service to all of Blount County. Our customers are always our first priority and we take great efforts to ensure their satisfaction. Our trash removal service is billed quarterly (every 3 months) in advance. There is no need to buy a container since we provide you one as long as you remain a customer. Trash Removal + Recycling – 3 Months

We have been in business since 1992 when we started our signature service of residential trash removal/pick up. Recently we modified our trucks with a separate compartment to provide a new Recycling pickup service. You now can choose to have both garbage pickup as well as recycling pickup. We provide the containers for both services and bill quarterly (every 3 months) for your convenience.
Trash Removal Rules
All provided equipment will be the customer responsibility until service is stopped or ended. There may be a fee charged if any equipment is lost, damaged, or stolen.
Trash Removal Do’s!
- PTrash should be bagged and tied.
- PTrash must be out and visible by 6AM.
- PIf trash exceeds container space regularly, another container must be added, additional charges will apply.
- PAll large boxes must be empty, broken down flat and stacked or bundled no more than 3ft. in length.
- PTwo bags of yard waste per week.
- PYard waste must be bagged or bundled.
- PBrush trimings must be bundled no larger than 3ft. in length, limited abount will be taken

Services
Equipment Policy
All provided equipment will be the customer responsibility until service is stopped or ended. There may be a fee charged if any equipment is lost, damaged, or stolen.
If you have placed a personal item next to or close to your trash contain or recycle container that was not intended to be trash or recycle, and it is taken with your pickup, we are not liable if it has been unloaded at the landfill or recycle plant by the time we have been notified. If it has not been taken to the landfill or recycle plant by the time we are notified, depending on the item and area, a decision will be made if the customer must pick it up at our facility or if we are able to deliver it back to the customer.
What items do NOT go in the trash?
The following hazardous household waste items should NOT be treated as everyday garbage and should NOT be disposed of curbside with your trash removal:

What items CAN go in the trash?
The following items are considered everyday trash and CAN be disposed of curbside with your trash removal pick up:

- Disposable razors
- Cactus & palm branches
- Cat litter & pet feces
- Glassware & ceramic dishes/cups
- Hoses & wire
- Juice boxes/pouches
- Non-fluorescent light bulbs
- Sheet glass (windows, mirrors, etc.)
- Foam cups or packing materials
- Treated wood (painted, stained, etc.)

What if I accidentally throw a personal item away?

When do I put my container out for weekly pickup?
Wheel your container to the street and place curbside by 6:00 a.m. on your collection day.
Do not overload the container, make sure the lid is closed completely. Garbage or waste left beside carts may not be collected. Additional charges may apply if trash exceeds container space regularly.
Driveway Service Policy
If you have opted for driveway service we ask that your cans be accessible to the truck with a distance no more than 5 feet. The truck must be able to back into your driveway or pull in forward and turn around safely and easily. We are not liable for any property damage, driveway damage, or any liquid spills from the truck.
Accounts & Billing
Statement Billing Schedule
Billing Cycles will depend on when your service starts. All new accounts will be set up on quarterly (3 month) billing. If your account was grandfathered in on monthly billing you can find statement info below.

Overdue Cancellation Process
Your account will enter the cancellation process when:
Quarterly: You have not paid your current quarterly statement before the next quarter is billed
Monthly: You have been billed for 4 months with no payment.
Week 1: Overdue cancellation statement will be sent to you by mail and must be paid by the due date.
Week 2: If you have not paid by the due date, you will not receive service on your next scheduled pickup
Week 3: If payment has not been received by the end of the 2nd week, a Final notice will be left by your driver.
Week 4: If payment is not made by the end of the 3rd week, your account will be placed inactive, any provided equipment will be repossessed and a repossession notice will be left at the residence*.
*There will be a $20.00 fee to reinstate an account that has reached the repossession stage.
Do I have to purchase equipment or cans?
No. You will be provided one can for trash and one can for recycling (if applicable).

Our new holiday policy is as follows:
We have decided to let the drivers make the choice to run or not run on a closed holiday. For this reason we ask that all customers put their trash out on their normal schedule, if it does not get picked up on their regular schedule, it will be picked up the next day.
